Just in case you foodies don’t know - this is a total grassroots effort started right in someone’s Brooklyn backyard. Just a few tickets left. Money raised benefits City Harvest.

Why is all the fun in Brooklyn?! Each weekday, from July 6 until August 27, from 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m, a different park in Brooklyn will be transformed into a classic Street Games Festival. These festivals are based upon a variety of traditional street games including Pogo Sticking, Skateboarding, Paddleball & Skelly! click the pic for schedule
The beauty of Fourth of July weekend in NYC is that everyone is somewhere else. My favorite time to be in the city.
Still, we had an hour wait at Clinton Street Baking Co for breakfast. Thank goodness for Donnybrook Bar down the street playing the soccer game and pouring those very hefty drinks, and the host at Clinton Street Baking Co who kept handing out delicious sweet treats to waiting customers.
Good news, pies -n - thighs in Williamsburg was no wait at all in the evening. And, if you haven’t had the banana cream pie, well, thats just plain ‘ole sad.

Urban Park Rangers Program - Camping in NY Urban Parks Lottery
Urban park rangers are offering great activities for the summer, but my favorite is the lottery to be one of 30 people (30 “families”/households) to be randomly selected to camp out - tent camping, smores, stargazing, night hikes - in various nyc parks.
Note:
registration for Central Park opens on July 28, for August 7th
registration for Prospect Park opens on September 8 for Sept 17
and so on … check out the website for your choice park
