Rhinebeck Farmers’ Market
Every Sunday 10 am - 2 pm; Mother’s Day to Thanksgiving
If you’re in Hudson Valley anywhere near Rhinebeck, take a nice morning car ride to their market to stock up on fresh food.  Rhinebeck is in Dutchess County on the east side of the Hudson River, about 2 hours north of NYC, between Kingston and Saugerties - all lovely areas to explore. You’ve probably heard of it as where Chelsea Clinton is getting married, and gossip is always fun, but there is a lot more to this town than that.

Just found this website and I’m in love with it.  Yes, in love!  If you’ll be spending any time in the Hudson Valley, check it out.   I just wish that it was a bit more complete.  But, it gave me a swimming hole and hiking idea for my trip in August, so I am happy.

littlemissjelica asked: Have you been to any of the Sushi Restaurants in Rockand County, NY?? If so I know a very cute and tiny little restaurant called Hikari Sushi in Orangeburg. I've also heard that Wasabi in Nyack is good as well.

I have not.  But, I’ll be sure to check out Hikari.  Thanks! This is the review I found on Metromix which you may be interested to know is just full of Hudson Valley info

A fluorescent-lit diner-type establishment in a strip mall, but the sushi is fabulous. Try the Hawaii ($10), which combines a California roll on the inside, with crab and avocado, each cross-sectional slice of roll has a shaving of tuna, too.

Anonymous asked: If you're ever in the Hudson Valley this summer, check out my parents food truck: Lunch Wagon NY (flavors.me/lunchwagonny) They serve authentic Puerto Rican dishes on the cheap and on the go. You'll walk away with a delicious meal, promise! -- Alisha from Sosauce

You don’t have to ask me twice!  Sounds amazing.  Are you right off Route 87?  What exit?

UPDATE:  Take exit 17 from I-87 and follow Rt. 300 to Rt. 32 for about 20-25mins. The food truck is parked right outside of a Mexican restaurant in Plattekill, NY. Tell them their daughter sent them :)

This is my new favorite gift idea for friends, family and colleagues who like to garden - whether its in their backyard or studio apartment. Freshly packed seeds for the 2010 garden season, each package featuring art work from a different New York based artist.
If this interests you, definitely check out the Hudson Valley Seed Library website and blog.  There is a lot of neat stuff happening here.

Serve Your Country Food is a movement of the Greenhorns - a land based nonprofit serving young farmers across America … and they’re heading our way with a scheduled event this Fall.  If you’re a young farmer, wish you were a young farmer or just a farm groupie, you should really check out their website, blog, radio show (based in Hudson Valley), guides and resources. Just the blog roll made my mouth water.
