littlemissjelica asked: Have you been to any of the Sushi Restaurants in Rockand County, NY?? If so I know a very cute and tiny little restaurant called Hikari Sushi in Orangeburg. I've also heard that Wasabi in Nyack is good as well.

I have not.  But, I’ll be sure to check out Hikari.  Thanks! This is the review I found on Metromix which you may be interested to know is just full of Hudson Valley info

A fluorescent-lit diner-type establishment in a strip mall, but the sushi is fabulous. Try the Hawaii ($10), which combines a California roll on the inside, with crab and avocado, each cross-sectional slice of roll has a shaving of tuna, too.

Woodbury Commons in Central Valley, NY and

Mt. Fuji Restaurant in Hillburn, NY

There is a gigantic sale this weekend / Monday at most of the outlet stores in Woodbury Commons (about an hour north of NYC off I-87).  If you can brave the large crowds and possible rain, it is the time to get the best deals. If you are a AAA member, stop by the clock tower for your FREE discount booklet.

And, if you head South to go back home, I recommend pulling off exit 15A and stopping for dinner at Mt. Fuji.  You’ll drive up into the hills and through a spectacular red japanese entryway.  The views are lovely and the hibachi style food is good.  It is the property that makes your meal into an experience.  Make sure to check the hours that they are open before going.

RESTAURANT POFILE: Khan’s Mongolian Garden in Blauvelt, NY
It may not be pretty or convenient, but Khan’s Mongolian is absolutely delicious and for ten dollars you can eat lunch like a king.  Dinner isn’t too shabby of a deal either.   To be honest, it is a stretch to turn this one meal into a full day activity.  I don’t know much that goes on in Blauvelt, NY besides Blauvelt State Park which I don’t even know first hand.  If you’re a practical person and refuse to travel to the middle of nowhere for an amazing bowl of noodles and then turn around and go home (like I’ve done), you may want to head over to Piermont, NY, just a ten minute drive away.  It is a lovely town on the water with stores, and galleries and if you go on a Sunday through December they have a sweet little farmer’s market (9 am - 3 pm).  Or, you can go to just sit along the water and digest your food.  Doesn’t do it for you?  Well, then exercise your own inner explorer.  Grab a map and wander through the villages of Rockland County.  (I cant help but give you the hint that Nyack is one of them!)
