so, i’m having a baby! hence, my new desire to blog all things baby-to-be. i miss belocaling but just cant bring myself to update. i am sure some of you can relate.
good news is that i’m still sharing at babynotes.tumblr.com. if you’re into babies, having babies, know babies, perhaps you’ll be interested in checking it out and sharing with me there.
i’m itching to tell you how much i like chimney hill estate and inn in hunterdon county, nj right outside of lambertsville
and how much i hated (though thats normally not my style) hamanasset bed and breakfast in brandywine, pa. good to know though is that the river museum in brandywine is so lovely - the building itself and the art gallery within
and that if you are in the catskills near pheonecia or big indian you must MUST must visit Yvonne at her house where she is still selling home cooked pot pies and jams and all things yummy - on route 28, passing Pheonecia heading north look on your left for her handmade signs.
but, i’d so much rather look at nurseries and pick out mobiles.
no doubt i’ll be back - eventually. please feel free to message me any questions for suggestions, etc.

I’ve been a bad belocaler these last few weeks but sometimes life gets in the way of blogging. I’m only checking in now because I’m heading up to Ulster County this weekend and I can hardly contain myself. Who better to understand that feeling than those of you who read belocal?
My husband surprised me by renting a cottage at Indian Grove in Big Indian, NY. And, I plan to go to Peekamoose, and Sweet Sues and Yvonnes for pie, and the Pakatakan Farmer’s Market and and possibly invite kissmybuttsbbq over to grill for us (a happy find by my friend Scott). And, sit in the grass, and prance in the Esopus Creek and find new stuff to tell you all about.
We’re going to stop in Red Hook and Rhinbeck on the way home and possibly stop at thisisalisha’s family lunch wagon on the way up.
That’s me up there the first time I was in this area (on the grounds of the Alpine Inn in Oliverea). I am one happy girl.
Don’t stop checking in. I’m revving up to share all about what I discovered while camping in Litchfield County, CT and the nooks and crannies in Brandywine, PA and what I’m planning for a weekend in Margate Beach, NJ near AC.
You can share too! Don’t hold out on me. I want to know!
My Top 5 Counties to Get Away To in Summer (when distance matters)
1. Ulster County, NY - trees and sweet air and fresh produce and creeks and art and stars and side-of-the-road finds all centrally located to dip into the other lovely neighboring upstate counties; 120 minutes
2./3. Bucks County, PA/Hunterdon County, NJ - inns and galleries and flea/antique markets and lots of open land straddling the Delaware River with Jersey on one side and Pennsylvania on the other; an amazing 90 minutes flat
4. New London County, CT - sea air and old nooks and crannies and winding back roads and lobster all beautifully drawn out on those colorful tourist maps you can find in every shop on the Main Streets; 180 minutes on a good day
5. Monmouth County, NJ - beaches and farm stands and ice cream and light houses and miniature golf where the summer woozy nights are short and sweet; 60 minutes of reckless driving
Between Poughkeepsie and Woodstock, Rosendale, NY is a small town in Ulster County with a population of about 6,500 people. And, it seems that almost everybody comes together to support the Rosendale Festival which succeeds at bringing tourists and commerce into town while also exposing local musicians and giving hudson valley residents a place to meet and gather.
I’m working on making my way up there next weekend.
Anonymous asked: If you're ever in the Hudson Valley this summer, check out my parents food truck: Lunch Wagon NY (flavors.me/lunchwagonny) They serve authentic Puerto Rican dishes on the cheap and on the go. You'll walk away with a delicious meal, promise! -- Alisha from Sosauce
You don’t have to ask me twice! Sounds amazing. Are you right off Route 87? What exit?
UPDATE: Take exit 17 from I-87 and follow Rt. 300 to Rt. 32 for about 20-25mins. The food truck is parked right outside of a Mexican restaurant in Plattekill, NY. Tell them their daughter sent them :)

Midnight Ramble Sessions at Levon Helm’s home studio in Woodstock, NY
The studio, built by local craftsman without a single nail, resides on Levon Helm’s property and is said to be the field of dreams for musicians - build it and they will come. Hence, the birth of the more formally organized midnight rambles. People bring food and drink and share with the other guests. A giant late night potluck, it seems.
Indeed sounds like a dream come true, except for the expensive tickets. If you’re interested, tickets go fast, almost a month in advance. Summer is not yet sold out.
I want to go. Really, really, want to go.
